Bosch Connected World 2017

Bosch Connected World event was organized at new scale, everything was bigger and definitely very impressive. Hopefully this trend will continue. The event had three parallel sessions which followed right after the keynote speakers. Throughout the event there was a large exhibition with a lot stands from the key industry players, such as Bosch, DELL, Huawei, CISCO, IBM, Intel, SAP, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.

Glazed Structure Plug-ins (3in1)

One of previous articles describe three separate plugins used for Glazed structure modelling in TEKLA (ALTO 4.0 ProfileSet, ALTO 4.0 GlazedStructureFrame and ALTO 4.0 GlassUnit).  This article shows the benefits of using them all in combination.

Our goal was to reduce the engineers workload when changes in the project are implemented. Video shows how adjustments in frame structure are processed by using ProfileSet and GlassUnit plugins.

Glazed structures provide wide choice of options which is great for developers and clients but brings great challenges to engineer, design, manufacturing and assembly teams. Automatic Tekla Structures element renaming

We have developed a small but powerful tool for element renaming(numbering). It is used to set the TEKLA element name according to UPB  naming convention. Automatic mode works together with precast attribute tool and uses the element type code in the name of the element while in manual mode it is possible to enter the element code. Tool simply fills in the element NAME attribute according to all selected elements. Tekla Structures allows you to perform automatic numbering or manual. This tool automates the manual numbering, and saves up to 160 engineer working hours in the year.

Analyzing engineer work in TEKLA to improve productivity

Improving engineering productivity is critical to reduce total costs of precast building manufacturing. Currently 35% of project hours are spent on element modelling. Analyzing how engineers work in BIM software (TEKLA Structures) should provide us with information how that time is utilized and where plugins or other useful tools should be provided for engineers.

Tekla Open API Precast Attributes Plug-in

TEKLA Structures is great software for precast element modelling and it can contain a lot of useful information about each element in element attributes. Most common ones are TEKLA standard attributes for each element type. But elements can also have some user defined custom attributes. Currently TEKLA provides more than 10 pages in 2 windows forms of user defined attributes for precast concrete panel. Not all of those attributes are necessary for every-day modelling and it is time consuming for engineers to search for the correct place where information must be entered.

Laser template projection in UPB precast concrete production

We would like to share our views on the laser template projection systems integration in our productions workflow, particularly in precast concrete elements production. The BPM diagram (Figure 1) describes the precast concrete element’s lifecycle from the drawing in 3D modeling software till the production in a factory. Our goal is a fully integrated system, where all information is shared among all stakeholders in this lifecycle. ALTO 4.0 ERP acts as the enterprise service bus for all information exchange and is designed to have interoperability properties.
